Welcome aboard the USS CONFLICT web site.
This is the first website dedicated to the officers and crew of the USS CONFLICT.

I had the privilege to serve aboard the CONFLICT from 1968 until 1970,
and came onboard as an RM3 and ended my Naval adventure as an RM2.
I made one tour of Vietnam duty and am proud to be a Vietnam Veteran.

I hope you enjoy your stay and will tell others about this site.

Ship's History

Ship's Mission

CONFLICT's mission was to conduct minesweeping and minehunting operations. The agility of a minesweeper to clear the sea lanes is a very important one for the United States since the use of mines can tie-up both civilian and Navy ships until the channel can be swept. With ships like the CONFLICT performing their mission, the possibility that other ships will be sunk or damaged by mines is greatly lessened.
